Right I am bored, stuck in the house with a poorly toddler. Being as I have not been here very long tell me about your venues and your dresses.

OMG That's Maggie's "Blaire" - another dress I loved and tried on! However, my lower belly shows too much in the straight satin cut so i had to give up on that one [:'(]

    Any excuse to flash!!

Our venue - both ceremony and reception are taking place in the same place:

Venue and Ceremony room (it was made ready as a break area for a conference but see below simply dressed for a wedding

The ceremony room and the wedding breakfast suite but it was ready for a meeting when we photographed it. Deceivingly, it looks small but it's not.

The terrace for photos and my no 1 choice of dress - i have tried this on and loved it

BUT also I have the below as a back up:

Welshthistle - I also have the same dress as you! really pleased I saw this thread as today i started to panic about the dress as I only tried 6 on and thought maybe i made my decision too quickly - BUT the picture here reminds me how lovely it is. Having a mini panic that they have ordered me a size too big as one of my BM got measured today and we are exact same size and they ordered her dress a size smaller, plus i plan to lose a little weight before Feb. I guess its best to be safe with the size and it can be altered.

Our new venue, the Majorca thing turned out to be a logistical nightmare, so gone for Bowness, Lake District instead.

And a couple of dresses I like.......

    Here's my venue:

This one is more recent - as you can see they've changed the carpet thankfully!

No, it's The Huntsman in Holmfirth - we looked at the Three Acres but it was way, way too expensive for what after all is just a restaurant, posh restaurant maybe but still just a restaurant!

Sorry I meant the Huntsman - that's what I get for talking to my OH whilst typing! We were talking of going to the 3 Acres tomorrow for lunch you see ;o)

Yes we looked there too. Even with a marquee it was a little overpriced. Have seen some fab weddings there though.

I think we've eaten at the Huntsman and remember the food being nice. We're moving to Holmfirth actually shortly!

3 Acres is fabulous for a meal but Alex and Andrew wanted a hot buffet rather than a sit down meal and they were asking more than most Stateley homes such as Nostell Priory! Apparently, the marquee is not included in the price either, that's extra. I think they were reluctant to do the buffet so charged the sit down price anyway! As it turned out, it wasn't big enough for the number of guests coming. The Huntsman has wonderful food and the warm, welcoming, relaxed atmosphere they were going for as well as the accommodation too.

Oh didn't realise that, I thought the marquee was included.

I really don't like it when venues aren't willing to give a little to suit consumer's needs. Luckily we found somewhere that would listen us and give us what we wanted.

This is where we'll be having our wedding breakfast, but imagine it set up for a wedding with round tables, chair covers, table decorations etc. It's a lovely big room with those mirrors all the way round and lots of chandeliers to swing from! ?
