    May I add a nobcheese story? From a friend who is a GP and did a stint in GUM earlier in career.

    She saw a young lad - 17ish. He came in because his nob was very sore (and according to my friend, also putrid of odour!). He had never been told (or FFS worked out for himself!) about washing under his foreskin, and as a result had HARD CRYSTALLISED SMEGMA ? under there, which was digging in a causing a great deal of pain. He mentioned he'd come in because his girlfriend ? suggested it.

    So, my friend has the unenviable task of explaining to an almost adult how to wash himself, and then says 'does it hurt particularly when having sex?' (she was trying to break the ice to tell him to get his gf to douse her bits in Dettol, I think). And he says:

    "We're not having sex yet - but she does give me blow jobs'
