Hi everyone, now that we are htting the one year mark (mine is tomorrow eeek!) I thought I would start this thread so we can all introduce ourseves and our weddings- chances are we will all be going through a lot of the same things at the same times and thought it would be great to share our experiences and support each other through the next year!

So yes hello I am Nikki! Me and my OH have been together now for 7 and a half years and he proposed (as my family and friends would say.. finally!) in february 2012 in mexico Smiley smile

We have done lots of planning so far, all of it very chilled out and no stresses yet......

Our wedding date is Thursday 15th May 2014.

We booked our venue last june, it is a beautiful barn with seperate room for our civil ceremony and accommodation for 60 guests as well. We live in Colchester, Essex and the venue is called Vaulty Manor in Maldon... I will do a seperate posts with all of our flashes together Smiley smile

On the morning of the wedding me my mum and best friend, moh and only bridesmaid Claire will be getting ready in the bridal suite. I've booked Dawn Taylor to do our hair and make up. Will flash my hair ideas seperately too.

The ceremony starts at 13:30. We're wanting it to be kept short and sweet so are not having readings. We are giving notice next week so hope to be a bit clearer about the ceremony soon. I will be walking down the aisle with my dad to Better Together (hawaiian slack key kings version) by Jack Johnson (on itunes if you want to listen) havent completely decided on the other songs yet. There will be 60 guests in the day.

Once the ceremony is over we are providing the prosecco and/or orange juice for the reception drinks, and will be having our photos here. Hopng for nice weather outside of course! Also having canapes. Our photographers are booked - it is a bit of a risk as our bidget was tight, they cost £500 for the whole day and are our age (27) with only about six weddings under there belt (more by next year) but check out the facebook page and you'll see why they won us over, the photos are gorgeous! We've met with them and also really like them too. We want our wedding to be casual with no airs and graces with our guests feeling comfortable and not on their best behaviours, so a chilled couple as our photographers works for us. Here is a link to some of their previous photos from another wedding

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.435756009793409.89096.185021771533502&type=3

So then it's food time! Everyone moves into the big barn room. We have sorted all the catering now too, met with them properly last week - We have booked the Aussie BBQ company and they are doing a big 5 ft chicken, chorizo and seafood paella, aussie steaks, aussie bangers, minted lamb kebabs and halloumi kebabs served with french bread, sauces and chutneys, mixed salad, potato salad and coleslaw. For dessert there is Triple chocolate mousse and fruit cheesecake.

http://www.aussiebbq.co.uk/pdfs/2013/FINALAussieBBQBuffetmenusMARCH2013.pdf

We are providing all our own wine (lots and lots, no rules per person) and having the speeches and toasts first before the meal (my OH has a small speech impediment snd wants the speeches out of the way asap)

We then have a bit of time time to fill and are thinking of doing a pub quiz (h2b is pub manager and it's quite 'us') but nothing set on that yet.

In the evening we will probably invite a further 40 guests ish and we ave booked a guitarist to sing live called Jamie Mcguire and he djs inbetweem we want sets of pop, rock and rnb and hip hop.

http://www.jamiemcguiremusician.co.uk/

We will be serving our cake in the evening on the bar along with a hog roast for our guests around 8:30.

I bought my dress last month too, it is White Rose R524 with a D'Zage belt for £1009.

Our flower ideas are daisies and gysophilia, we are meeting with a potential florist next week.

I've handmade all the save the date magnets and they are going out soon - they are in the colour theme for the wedding green and pinks.

I have bought some cheap little daisies from ebay and these will be tied in daisy chains around the beams in the venue.

I have bought small wicker baskets with candles for centrepieces which I will tie daisy chains round and am thinking maybe wood circles underneath.

Oooh and ordered my veil yesterday from Margaret, I am having a two tiered super soft tulle, elbow length veil with scalloped edges and thin pencil edge. It is costing me £41.28 including postage and a veil hanger. So far cannot reccommend her enough just hope it comes out how I imagine.

So the things left to sort now are:

* Rings (i'll flash some ideas below) going to go to Alba Rose first

* Shoes

* Honeymoon (I was very lucky and won a prize at work.. £5000 holiday vouchers with Thomson! hoping to book up soon, thinking of a safari then beach in mobasa kenya next july)

* BM dress

* Suits (leaving this to h2b so dont expect it anytime soon!!!)

* Make invitations

* Jewellery/ hair accessories/ underwear

* Buy wine/prosecco

* Gifts for family / bridal party

* Book hen do (got the time off work thinking a weekend in Valencia!) then another one local for family too.

There is probably loads more but so far feeling pretty organised Smiley smile

Cant wait to hear all about your weddings too Smiley smile Smiley smile happy planning!!!

    Hi everyone!
    Haven't been on her for ages - had to get my head down at work for a bit to catch up on all the hitched time - whoops!

    I'm feeling a little further along with our Alice wedding; booked another tog - thank goodness - after we got fired by our last one (!), have started a moodboard for the invites/RSVPS/order of service; my cousin is designing them for me, based on my ramblings. Handy to have a relative who is a graphic designer! Smiley tongue

    I've ordered our custom cake topper from the US from this company on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/MelaboWed?ref=ks_wide
    of a stag marrying a unicorn - LOVE IT!

    I've started collection a load of teacups, teapots, old bottles and saucers/plates to go on the tables - I'll be putting some homegrown orchids and gypsophila in some of them and using some ferns that I need for my garden (handy) to bulk up the centrepieces. I think I need to make a load of 'eat me' and 'drink me' labels; I think I will also make some tiny 'take me' labels for all the bits of the decorations so that people know what they can take away with them. Also need to find a few clocks and work out what we are having as table numbers.

    My dress pattern is finally starting to come together and will be sent to the factory in the next couple of weeks - although I'm looking at dresses on eBay as a backup, just in case! Am also getting a lace cape made instead of a veil

    Starting on the bridesmaid's necklaces soon so they will hopefully be mostly finished before Christmas, then it's on to designing my jewellery and OH's cufflinks - I sourced some slices of meteorite at a trade show that I will use and set with gold and diamonds Smiley smile

    I've asked the lovely Daffodil Waves to do a boudoir shoot with me next year, which is exciting, and a little scary.....

    And I'm off shopping for BM dresses (long, dark grey/charcoal) on Tuesday - hopefully we will get somewhere!

    Still need to sort out someone to do the bouquets and haven't sorted transport yet, but I think most other things are coming together! Smiley laugh

    Alabastamasta have you thought about having the clocks as table numbers? Have them set to 1 oclock, 2 oclock etc?

    It all sounds amazing!!

    Yes, we have! I found these:

    that I was going to put on some of the tables along with some other mis-matched cloths; we are trying to get 12 tables of 12, so each person could have a time as their place setting but that totally depends on our final numbers (and table sizes)

    I've also seen these, which could work (might get my cousin to design something along these lines, just in case!) :

    Your theme is so exciting I can't wait to see it all come together, will keep my eyes peeled for any alice themed ideas.

    Feels good to get organised hey?! Smiley winking

    The wedding mojo comes and goes, it's just about getting lots done when you feel like it!

    Yes, I can see there's been a lot happening; I've had to write and deliver a bunch of workshops, now working on doing a workshop for the British Library for their clients - scary!
    Also been moving workshop so I can get all my jewellery orders completed before Christmas and start on the wedding jewellery Smiley smile

    I feel like I'm starting to get there now; hoping my cousin can get all the artwork done for Jan and then I'll be printing and sending invites out (although still have to work out final guestlist - realising we could invite some friends to the full day in exchange for them playing in their band and/or DJing as it's WAY cheaper that way, haha!) But yes, I feel a bit more like I know what I'm doing!

    Loving the ring! Glad it's finally arrived! Starting on mine in the New Year, as well as OH's - which I still need to design Smiley tongue

    I'm sending my invitations out mid January, my printer is on it's way as we speak, I've designed them and cut all the belly bands and punched all the embellishments to stick on them so hopefully won't take too long just to print and stick. Says she, the eternal optimist!

    Welcome back Alabasta! Good to see you on here again. I'm so excited to see your plans for the Alice themed wedding - those table cloths look great - and it's a theme you can just go mad on and will all look very cool.

    Goldpants - I'm sending my invites out mid Jan so people have time to book accommodation etc - we're getting married in an area saturated with wedding venues and not many hotels so I'm a bit worried that people will struggle to find somewhere to stay. We also need to give the venue at least 8 weeks notice (I think) of final numbers for catering/costs etc so want time to do this and bump any evening guests if we have day guests who say they can't come.

    We're making them (although I say that loosely as I'm hoping my sister will do most of it!) and we haven't started yet (so it will be quite a busy Christmas!) Mid Jan might turn into early Feb.

    As for me for planning updates, I feel like we're slowly getting there - we've chosen the suits and the flowergirl dresses so the colours seem to be getting there. I'm still changes my mind on some things though but most of it seems to be coming together now.

    Alabasta both those table ideas look great! I love how you have such a definite theme.

    My latest worry is that my wedding will be a bit mix and match. My OH has gone for full tails (whit whoo!) but we are having re used jars and spirit bottles for candles and flowers and an old suitcase for the cards. I don't seem to have any kind of direction.

    I did a couple of rough jars last night... (while watching sister act :p)

    What do you think? They went better than I expected considering I am SO NOT creative!

    Which brings me onto invitations! AGH! I want to send mine out in january as well but I can't decide what I want.

    What I have so far is that I want square pocket folds....that's it.

    I went to hobbycraft with my OH on Saturday. I have no idea what made me think that was a good idea. We didn't speak much on the way home :p

    Goldpants I love your ring! I would love one like that but I think I can only afford a plain band because I want it in platinum like my ER.

    Hi, the jars are fab... We are having bits and bobs like ours.. My OH is also wearing tails but the general theme is shabby chic/rustic.. Pastels bridesmaid dresses - all different and hanging hearts everywhere. I was also going to have a suit case for my cards but decided on a hessian sack (can get personalised ones online too)

    Invites I know is a nightmare I'm the same and funny I went to hobby craft on my own thought which was probably best but not sure about making them as will take ages to make around 100. I have had some samples sent to me which look fab too so think they are winning :-)

    What date do you get married? X

    Emzyuk I'm getting married on the 17th in Milton Keynes.

    I don't blame you for wanting to get invites done professionally. I have a daily fight in my head about saving the money and saving myself from the stress!

    Icklefee your jars looks great. I'm very impressed that they are all different - i'm running out of ideas after 2 :p The plan is to get my mum and sister round over christmas at some point to have a jar decorating 'party'.

    I haven't got any lace yet DreamCatchMe. I keep looking at the bundles you can get from Ebay and wondering whether I should risk it and order one of them. It's a selection of all different types of lace though so I don't know if it's what you want.

    I really love these ones

    Thanks Becky - I love the crochet lace but I think it's going to work out too expensive for the invites.

    Goldpants don't worry I'm doing lots of talking about my wedding but very little action. Still not started invites but at least looking at buying supplies! Still trying to sort out hotel accommodation and despite talking about it months ago we haven't confirmed menus yet and we need to include them as well because we're giving everyone a choice and they have to pick when RSVPing.

    It does seem to be speeding up a LOT now and stressing me out. I'll feel a bit better when my hen is sorted, or at least a date agreed, and when we have invites, and menu choices, and accommodation as all this needs to be done before invites are sent in Jan....there's too much to do!! I don't know why I've also committed myself to making four brooch bouquets before the big day. Just wiring the brooches is taking forever.

    So how many are on 9th May?

    Me, Kimblebee, Muppet, MrsOh and you, so far!

    My fave thing about the date (and a bit why we chose it): 9/5/14, 9+5 = 14 The maths makes me happy!

    I am such a loser \o/
