OK I suggest a cup of tea for this one it maybe long I am inlove with our professional photos.

Also i have no idea how to shrink them so I apologise in advance for the gaintness. I loved evey minuet of my day and want to show you that wet and windy weather can't spoil your day. So my hair got a bit toulsed and I didn't stay glamrous for long but I did get a rainbow what more can a girl want?

Week before the wedding

Mr Drifter and i returned home on Sunday night after our respective stag and hen weekends and got an early night in preparation for the pre wedding madness that was the next 4 days.

Monday was spent in a whirl wind of activity, making last minuet runs to the shops to get supplies so Mr Drifter could finally make table names and plans, and he did a wonderful job co ordinating the plan colours with the actual name cards for the table. Meanwhile I was busy gluing ribbon on order of services and cutting ribbon for place names! (I never wanted to see ribbon again after this!)

With hairdresser appointments and guests arriving from Oz it was a hetic few days ladies never trust anything will go as you plan. The thursday before the wedding saw one bridesmaid making a mad dash to Birmingham to view a flat meaning bridesmaid number 2 was stuck in Cheltenham (this is after both had tried on their dresses on way to train station as flat viewing BM had only tried her dress on for the first time the week before and we had no idea if the final dress was right luckily it was perfect).

So it was a quiet drink in the pub thursday night and an early night. I slept well till 2 in the morning then couldn't get back to sleep having woken up I had late night chats and Hot chocolate with my dad to help me get some more rest before the madness that was bridal preps began.

I was up at 6:30 and feeling the tirdness but a quick soack in the bath and a shaower and I was readdy to go at half seven when lovely hairdresser arrived. From here on in getting readdy was a blur and I have no idea how time passsed so fast,

Dads shirts were order of the day as standard getting readdy uniform! at this point we saw the first tears of the day as the bridesmaids whisked me away for a quiet moment with them my dad and step mum. they gave me lovely gifts for old new borrowed and blue, with borrrowed being my mums wedding ring that we sewed to my garter so she could be with me all day. Cue make up lady to the rescue !

hair and make up done it was time to get dressed first thing to master hide fromthe photographer

important note to brides do not answer the phone during bridal preps!

phone rings we ignore, until dad calls us to answer it. Sister answers "Hello we are getting ready for a wedding" person on other end of phone speaks

sister replies "well we are putting her in the dress right now I can't talk to you even with your lovely welsh accent" (cue yet more giggles)

(I love this photo it sums up our whole morning we just laughed and laughed, we made the make up lady and hairdresser laugh and the photogrpaher had the best giggle ever.)

Once bridesmaid number two was off the phone they decided brute forces was the way forward with the dress and earrings!

originall I had purchased some beautiful jewellery off lisaloulou @louloubelle designs but on the day was surprised with a necklace frome my maids and earing from OH.

dressed and readdy off I went for final touches to the hair downstairs

Photos done pudding eaten (dinner was fantastic and dont believe what people say about not eating I ate the lot and I ate a massive breakfast this bride did not loose her appitite) it was time for Speeches, we changed the standard running order so Mr Drifter kicked off proceedings
who'd have thought he wrote his speech the afternoon before the wedding nothing like the last min for this man!

I loved the speches Mr Drifter told our story so well, it was perfect, next was Dad

after a minor mishap (he had forgotten his glases a borrowed pair were found!) Dad was off. NowDad was a teacher he has taught many of our guests, (including me and OH) he made them all feel included, he spoke of my mum beautifully in a way only those of us who had known her would notice (cue my tears)

This is the point at which maid number 2 told maid number 1 to "think of boobies" ensuring make up was preserved (quick thinking BM number 2)

With dad done and dusted it was time for the all important best mens speech. Note guests take all betting on speeches seriously!

    and they were off

the best men were fantastic, Best man number one did a wonderful job of making the toast to Absent family the one job niether my dad or Mr OH felt they could do, and we all laugh. Speeches were one of my favourite things, I was in room of people I loved who know myself and Mr Drifter better than anyone I couldn't have asked for more. (There is something very special about having grown up with your best men and also a little embrassing for the groom knowing someone since you were born gives them a lot of ammunition!)

Trickers ( a little secret we had an October wedding partly because Mr Drifter likes to take photos and he wanted it to maximise the chances of good light although we didn't expect it to be quite so wet, the previous 2 years have been stunningand also it meant we got married 2 years to the day of being engaged).

Welll thanky you all for all your nice comments, made me blush to read them all. I am finally going to finsh this off so I can print it and put it ina memory box.

So after speeches and food and photos it was time for the all important cake cutting (this had to be done super quick as one small chiled had alreaddy made a rather arge dent in the icing and we had visions of a return attck resulting in cake on the floor. Are tog had left by then so we onlyhave friends shots of Cake cuttign and first dance all in wonderful technicolour due to lights for dancing

    post cake cutting dance

    actual ake cutting

as the first notes of Athelte chances came across the sound system Mr Drifter and I hugs for the traditional hug and sway first dance and I couldn't believe we had ctually made it to be man and wife, then as the first dance faded out our band started Kings of Leon Use someboday our friends filled the dance floor and we really did just dance the night away. Last song of the night was Hey Jude with Mr drifter dancing in the middle of all our guests and everyone singing along. It felt amazing to have spent our special day with so many people who are important to us.

So Thats it my wonderful wet wedding, for those of you who are worried about the weather on your big day, don't come rain or shine it will be a fantastic day and as long as your prepaired you won't care anyway ( I secrerlty quite liked the rain).

Below are a few more photos becuase wll just because I like them and as I hope to print this out to keep I'm going to bung them in.

Now thats what I called service! Ushers insuring my lovely step mum stays dry.

The bridesmaids really were prepaired and this is why Mr Drifter and I are no good at having our photos taken, we have a lot like this just laughing!

FInally we had the frame game signs made wonderfully by Mr Drifter here are a few that are not to rude (somes guests took a great likeing to it!)

Thank you Bride Brat (hows your planning going? I loved your teacups).

Ahh it is a self indulgent report I am hopeless at english/ creative writing but I wanted amemory of our day so knew if I wrote it here I would have to commit to finishing it and then I can print it to keep for when I am old and forgetful.

Brilliantly thank you, next job is to find a tog that can do amazing natural pics like yours!

It just goes to show that you NEEEEEEED a photographer, so many people have said just to tell guests to bring their cameras and put a disposable camera on each table - I don't think sooo. I'm off to count my pennies to see what I can afford lol!

    It worked, yay.

We're getting married in Chiseldon, just outside Swindon. Nothing in Swindon took my fancy so we've gone just outside.

Are you in the hitched group on fb? I'll try and add you if not.

Drifter, congratulations & thank you for sharing your lovely wet wedding with us ? I'm a born & bred Cheltenham girl & I'm just wondering where had your ceremony? Was that Kingscote Barn? I really love your flowers! We've just confirmed our wedding for Dumbleton Hall for September next year so I'm trying to get recommendations of good local suppliers! ?

    WelshBride ScottishGroom

I love Brecon, and Craig y Nos ( I used to think I would get married there well before I broke up with the Ex some years ago now).

    Thankyou for your kind remarks.

Panda2011 oh hooray another gloucestershire bride I couldn't find when I was planning, yes the reception was at Kingscote Barn (I grew up in Tetbury and now live in Cleeve)

Dumbleton is a really really lovely venue, James and I used all local suppliers so happy to pass on info if you need it. I also tried all the bridal shops in Cheltenham and Birmingham and many more my top Cheltenham ones were Cocoa, and Chanticleer
