Sparkly Bear - 10 months, 4 weeks and 1 day hehe ?
Good idea to send the invites in May, I was going to send mine at the start of April simply because I know my family are hopelessly disorganised! It'll also give me plenty of time to chase up RSVP's and menu choices as I need final figures 8 weeks before the wedding, same as yourself
My new dress is so pretty, and a bit of bargain ... not that my mum agrees on that oops ... It's strapless, ivory silk and quite fitted with a pretty blingy bit on my right hip and lower down on my left side and then floats out into a small train Hard to describe buts its worlds away from the pretty a-line lace and satin dress I originally bought!
What's your dress like??
Are you buying any wedding umbrellas just in case? I can't decide whether I want to risk not having any or tempt fate and buy some =/
Your dress sounds gorgeous!! Mine is a sweetheart top with fitted middle and then it has an organza puffy bit from the waist down! it sounds terrible the way i have described it, but its really pretty! Its a Mori Lee!
I think my ticker is broken as it is stuck on 11 months to go - i noticed yesterday it was stuck on 11 months 15 days to go! I think i need a new one!
Are you sending your evening invites at the same time as your day invites or are you waiting? I was thinking of sending them all together, but then I was thinking that if someone from the day declines, i'd feel bad about bumping up an evening guest. so I didn't know whether to send the day ones, and then wait for the replies and then send out additional day ones if necessary and then the evening ones? Or am i just over thinking this?
In relation to wedding umbrellas - i have tempted fate and bought some last week. I was thinking about it and if it does rain, i'd feel much more comfortable knowing I had got some pretty umbrellas to use. I have got one for me, and one for the OH. Mine is white and frilly .......
and then my OH has had a non frilly grey one ......
Obviously I don't want it to rain, but i do feel better knowing that if it does, we will at least still get some gorgeous photo's outside the church and venue xx
Your dress sounds amazing, am sure it'll look gorgeous
I did wonder if your ticker was stuck, or if mine was going too fast!
Your not over thinking it dw, I'd feel the same about bumping up an evening guest and them knowing it was only cause someone couldn't make it. My OH and I think we might send the evening invites a month after the day invites, this gives most of the family time to respond and family friends time to drop out! Work friends etc already know when the reception is and know their invites are evening only.
OMG I love those umbrellas!! That's it, I'm tempting fate and buying some
I've made a new ticker! Mine was definitely broken! Now I'm under the year mark I've chosen one of those ones where the little people move closer to each other!!! 10 months and 4 weeks to go, it's so exciting! By the time we get married we'll have been engaged for 2 years so I'm so happy it's nearly here!
That's a good idea about the invitations, I might send my day ones in April then that would accommodate for any people who drop out, and I can bump up evening guests without feeling utility about it!
i'm glad you are buying umbrellas! I just think it's better to have them, than not! Fingers crossed it doesn't rain!!
Whats next on your list to complete LittleMissPanda? Have you bought your invitations or made them yourself? We are making ours, so now the nights have drawn in I shall set to and start making them along with all other stationery too!
Yay for a new ticker Is it sad that I get more excited when I realise the little bride is moving closer and closer??
Aw that's lovely, we would've been engaged for 1 year, 10 months & 3 weeks (very precise hehe)
I have good ideas very rarely, so definitely steal this one if you like it as its the last one for this year lol Next problem I'll have with invites will be which evening guests to bump up if needed...
We're having a family friend make our invites so I'm just waiting for her to come back to me with a sample Am stressing about info to include/leave out as we're having a 3 venue 1 day wedding ? I'm totally creatively challenged so am in awe of anyone that makes their own ... what are yours like?
Definitely hope it doesn't rain! But I think your right, its better it have them and not need them plus its an excuse to go shopping Now ... where the heck do I find wedding umbrellas?
I think next on my list is to sort out the wedding cake I'm hoping that my cupcake lady (yes, I'm her most devoted customer!) will be able to make it for us but I haven't had chance to sit down with her and have a chat yet
I can't think of anything else I might have forgotten to do which is worrying as I'm sure there is something! What do you have left to sort, if anything?
Its
not sad at all! I'm so excited about the fact that I have a moving ticker!!! If
I could put it on my personal emails I totally would!!!
That's nice you have a family friend making your invitations! Will
they be doing the other stationery as well for you?
We are having a beach theme, so the invitations are pale blue,
they are pocket-fold ones, and I'm making ribbon bows for the front of them and
then on the side we are having little pop seahorses (2cm high) and a popup
starfish on the main 'we are getting married section' and then I am including
an accommodation list, gift poem, information about the venue ie bar closing,
car parking etc and then directions from church to venue, an rsvp and a
timeline of events so that people know what time to expect everything ie toast
drinks, cake cutting etc! I can't think of anything else to include!
If you type Wedding Umbrellas into google lots of different places
sell them - I have bought mine from a lady that comes to our offices selling
gifts and things - however the exact same umbrellas are available on
http://www.jollybrolly.co.uk/ and other various sites!
That's lovely you have a cupcake lady! Does she usually make
wedding cakes?! I'm sure it'll taste amazing! We haven't sorted out our cake
yet! It's on our to do list!
The next thing we are going to look at is wedding rings, other
than that I just need bridesmaid accessories, the cake and then a few little
bits and pieces! On the whole we have everything sorting though! I was feeling
organised, but now we are into the 10 month mark, i don't feel like I've done
enough!
Same here, although I'm sure work would disapprove if I put my wedding ticker on my 'professional' emails!
I think she will do the thank you cards for us, and I know she can do all the inserts that we need to put in the main invitations ... we've already sent our save the dates. It's nice for her as she's off work on maternity leave atm and she's told me she likes the "pocket money" it gives her
Aw your invites sound lovely, and I like the idea of a beach theme! There's so much information that you need to enclose and I'm not sure of the 'proper' way to do ? I think yours sound very informative, pretty much everything a guest might need to know Good thing you mentioned accommodation in your post though as I hadn't thought of that one oops!
Ooh awesome thank you, I shall a browse on that website in a bit
She does do wedding cakes, and she does cupcake towers with a small cake for cutting so we just need to chat with her and decide what we want really Do you know what sort of cake you want?
For wedding rings I can highly recommend Smooch ... my OH and I chose our rings in April and opted to pay by monthly direct debit, so much easier!
Haha you sound exactly like me! There's hardly anything left to do but it feels like loads
I have to sort out bridesmaids accessories, decorations for the meal & reception hall and get my OH's suit .... am sure there's other stuff but I can only remember so much
Hows things going? We booked our homeymoon today (im so excted!) I can barely focus at work!
Smooch sound good- im going to have a look at them when i get home tonight. When do you get the rings? Is it once yo have paid the full amount? Whats your wedding ring like?
Are you any further along with your cake? We arent sure what we want for ours - we dont want to spend much on it, as people will look at it for a bit and then it just gets cut up and eaten - which is kinda the point of a cake - but it is so expensive! I think we will a stimple 3 tier with some seashells on and brown sugar as sand!
The date is certainly getting closer now! 10 months, 1 week and 6 days!! Woohooo!

Where are you going for your honeymoon sparklybear? We'll be looking to book ours in the next few weeks, I thought we'd have to wait until mid-December because they only normally let you book so far in advance! I want to go and do mine at the weekend now! ?
I didnt think we'd be able to do ours, but i had a look online on Tuesday at Thompson Tailormade & Virgin and the flights had all beeen released! I was so excited, i spent the entire afternoon looking around to get the best price!
We are going to Mauritius for two weeks! We fly three days after the wedding! Im so excited!! Where are you looking at going? You should definitely pop into the travel agents if you can to see if you can book! xx

Congrats on booking yours - it sounds heavenly - we were looking around there or Maldives at first but then we looked at so many we became holiday blind?!
Anyway we've narrowed it down to either Langkawi in Malaysia or a split one in Kenya doing a few nights on safari and a the rest of the time at a resort. I suppose it will come down to price/availability when we go to see the travel agent.
OH has been told to clear next Saturday for honeymoon shopping!
Wow you've booked your honeymoon already? Exciting stuff ? Can't blame you for not being focused on boring ol work haha!
How'd you get on looking at Smooch? We opted to pay monthly so we'll get ours at the end of August 2015 when we make the last payment My ring is white gold with 9 diamonds in the band, and there's tiny engraving around all the diamonds so they look like roses H2B has a plain palladium band but the finish is in three "stripes" (polish, matte, polish) so it looks like 3 bands in one
I'm meeting my cupcake lady on 10th Jan as she's really busy with Christmas atm and I want her undivided attention when we're discussing options & munching samples hehe I totally agree that wedding cake is expensive, we're looking at around £120 for a cupcake tower and a 8 inch round cutting cake! But if it tastes nice I guess its worth it ... I like the sound of the seashells and "sand", should be very effective
10 months, 1 week and 5 days

PS - How are all you other lovely Oct 15 brides doing?
I'm realising more and more how much there is to do, how little I have done and how quick time is going! Don't mind me while I have a little panic over here, eeeekkk!
Your honeymoons all sound amazing, I haven't really thought about that yet, although having two kids already kind of limits us a bit on what we do.
The 31st Sparkly Bear. I'm only just a October bride I'm just at the confused point of having not any idea what I'm supposed to be doing. Hitched is helping though!
We've bought our wedding rings! Well, we chosen them, and paid a deposit on them! Just need to find the money to pay for them!
Mines so gorgeous and looks a little something like this.....
Its not not the exact ring, as the diamonds in mine are a princess cut, but it's the closest picture I can find online!
I'm so happy I've got it! I've also bought some other pieces for the wedding too! It's great having a week off! I only have the cake left to sort now, and then I just need to save the money to pay for everything!
How are your plans coming along?!
October ladies, how are all your plans coming along?!
Wow that's stunning. I really was convinced I wanted a plain platinum band but seeing that I think I need to look at diamonds! What's your engagement ring like? I was worried my solitaire might get upstaged by more diamonds.
On the planning front I've actually booked an appointment to try on some dresses, eek! Scared already, I think I'm going to be too fussy to enjoy it.
Sparkly Bear - wow! That ring is gorgeous Really pleased that you found something you like, and it sounds like your super duper organised now As for saving to pay for everything ... that is the exact nightmare I'm stuck in currently
I have managed to pay the deposit for everything now (expect the cake), will be living off beans on toast till the wedding me thinks!
AnnaMolly - the only bit of advice I can give you is don't judge the dresses too harshly when their on the hangers. When I was trying dresses on for a giggle (I had already bought my dress) I picked a few and let the shop ladies pick a few based on what they thought would suit me. I didn't like the last one they brought it as it was everything I don't personally like in a dress ... but my gosh as soon I had it on I started crying and ended up buying it!! Hopefully the shop your going to will have lovely shop assistants that will help you And as for diamonds, you can never have too many diamonds!
AnnaMolly - I was exactly the same! My ER is a solitaire set in a high clasp on a platinum band. So its pretty prominent on my hand and i was worried that if I had anything other than a plain band - however I went into the shop adament that the plain band was what I wanted, tried them on and just didn't get the wow factor. The lady then pulled out the one with full diamonds, I was like, I dont want it, it will overpower my ER blah blah blah, the lady she made me try it on, and I fell in love instanstly! So I guess the moral of the story is, no matter how much you think something might suit you, always be open minded to try on others. If I hadn't, I never would of bought this gorgeous wedding ring!
When is your dress shopping appointment? I had so much fun when I went! I had seen a dress online (baring in mind I had been looking at dresses online and in wedding books for a good 6 months, every day) anyway I knew I had to try this dress i'd been oggling on first, so I did. It looked gorgeous it was amazing and I didnt want to take it off! Not wanting to rush into a decision, I then spent a further two hours in the shop and I tried on another 15 dress of all different styles. Some of them I picked, and the others I let the shop ladies pick, as after all, they are the experts. However none came close to this first dress so I paid the deposit and bought it. (this was 11 months ago, and i dont get married for another 10 months!) To this day, I havent seen a prettier dress anywhere. I'm not actively looking but in my FB feed they pop up due to pages that I follow, and in all the magazines I see them too. People saying buy a dress that far in advance can be dangerous incase you see another one you like, but honestly I stil love the dress I have chosen and google it all the time so I can look at it!
I hope you enjoy dress shopping! Everyone is different though, my friend who is getting married has been to 5 shops, tried on numerous dresses and still hasn't found one she likes and she gets married way before me! You have plently of time though!
LittleMissPanda - Your rings look gorgeous! Love your ER! I have never seen anything like that before with the double band! Totally agree with you on the whole beans and toast comment! I'm just getting so fed up with saving! I know its for our wedding, but every little thing we want to buy im like 'can we afford that' 'how much is in the wedding pot' ' we need more money' 'we cant do this its too expensive' - I sound like a broken record and I'm even annoying myself when I say it, but I can't help it. We are pretty good with our money anyway, and rarely splash out on things, buts its even little things like buying a bottle of wine with the shopping - no, we dont need it, but it would be nice to have it etc - just really looking forward to the point when we can stop saving so much - it just gets me down sometimes! we both work hard at our jobs, but the money is never enough! Think Im having a little winge - sorry!
On a more positive note, I have written all our Christmas cards, and put all the decs up! I want to start making the wedding invitations this week/next week!
Hope all you other October 2015 brides are doing ok xxx
EDIT: sorry for the long post, I'm back at work today and I'd rather be at home doing Wedding things! x
Sparkly bear - I have looked at so many dresses online and found some ones that are stunning. I found the stockist on the designers website and it's near my mum so we're going in a week on Saturday. Will definitely be interesting to see if they look the same in real life.
Your engagement ring sounds like mine, you've convinced me to look at some more diamonds
LittleMissPanda - your rings are stunning! I love coloured gems in engagement rings. That is what I though I would go for but my OH made the choice not me!
Only another month to go until we can say 'we're getting married this year!'. Yay!
Sparkly Bear - I totally get what you mean about being fed up with saving, I'm annoying myself with the amount of times I say "Can we really afford that?" or "Do we actually need it?" I know it'll all be worth it but damn I'd like some chocolate right now!! Well done with getting all your Christmas cards and decorations done, I put my tree up yesterday ... gotta admit that made me feel better
AnnaMolly - what sort of dresses do you think you'll try on? Have you fallen in love with any online
Thank you for the nice comments about my ER, I thought it was a bit different and I really love sparkles hehe
As soon as I can say "I'm getting married this year" I will totally freak out!
Hi ladies - I have a question, when are you all going to be sending out your invites? Our caterers only need final numbers confirmed 7 days before the event, but obviously, I won't leave it that long to collect numbers!
I was thinking of sending invites out in August, however one of my friends is doing the invitations as their wedding gift as her hubby isa graphic designer, she said we should decide on the design no later than April and send them out in about May?
Has anyone else got a timeframe in mind for invites yet? Our wedding will be on 10th October
I get married on 3rd October and the venue want final numbers 8 weeks before I get married! I was planning on sending them out in May, for RSVP by 1st July. That then gives me 4 weeks to play with before I have to confirm the numbers to the venue. However this might all change, as I cant decide if I have given them enough time1
I would say in your case, it would be best to get the RSVP's back to you by the beginning of September as that then gives you 5 weeks to play with numbers and sorted seating plans etc - if you went with that then I'd send them out end of May / June time. That would then give your guests 2 months to respond.
Did you look at honeymoons at the weekend? I know you mentioned you might have a sneaky look!
AnnaMolly - that dress looks gorgeous! I haven't seen one like that before! You'll have to keep us updated with your dress appointments!
LittleMissPanda - when the wedding eventually arrives, I know i'll be so happy about having saved all the money, but it just feels so tough trying to save it all. I think it doesnt help, that I am at a bit of a lull in the planning! I have everything done except for finding a cake, buying the bridesmaid dress (i have found them, but they want to order nearer to the time) and then i just need to make the invitations, but I'm waiting for our vicar to confirm back to me that the time I initally specified is ok for us to use!
It probably doesnt help, that i have been engaged for 18 months already! but at least we only have 10 months and 1 day to go!
I cant wait to say 'im getting married this year' it'll be so exciting!!
xx

Sparkly bear that's really helpful, thank you! We will be inviting around 100+ day guests so I guess the more time I give myself the better!
Alas, no! I was SO bloody excited as well, but OH had to work. So hopefully in the next couple of weeks - just really want to get that booked, another thing ticked off the list...!x
Yes, you must definitely try and get it booked! I often find myself, when having a tough day at work, browsing through our hotel and looking at the restaurants and the beach for what must be the millionth time! I just feel it makes me smile and cheers me up loads!
I always like to be organised so I might send my invitations earlier, it depends how long I can hold out sending them for! I want the process to be as stress free as possible, although I'm sure some last minute things will pop up!
Today is 10 months till iget married! I'm so excited! Tomorrow I'll be 9 months, 3 weeks and 6 days! It's certainly getting closer!!!
