Aw bless you I will be exactly the same! And I know that those types of places get booked up really quickly so hopefully we can get down to see the travel agent before christmas.
How exciting!! I bet the time will fly once christmas is out of the way x
Hope your planning's going well AnnaMolly, this dress is gorgeous! I love this one http://www.pinterest.com/pin/390616967653822130/ it's amazing. And the photographer is brilliant.
My wedding is booked for the 24th October 2015. a civil ceremony and reception in a manor house in the Yorkshire dales. We got engaged on the 2nd Nov this year after meeting online in Feb this year...its been an amazing whirlwind relationship!
venue booked, registrar booked, dress found,so excited, fell in love with the 3rd dress I tried on, cant wait till april when it arrives! makeup/hairdresser organised, family member is a wedding photographer also.
Now I can enjoy Christmas without thinking too much about wedding planning
Not much point to my post at all - but I am at work - and the only thing i can concentrate on is the wedding!!! We went and saw our wedding rings at the weekend, OH is having his made, so it was nice to see it completed, and since then its all i can think about! I totally know i need to be working, becuase work obviously pays for everything!
How are you all getting on? The only thing I have left is my cake to sort! I'm going to start making my invitation this week I think, i just need confirmation back from the vicar about timings!
MrsFRtobe! Welcome to hitched and congratulations on your engagement! You sound like you have made great progress with your plans! What's next on your list t get sorted?!
invitations are sorted ready for sending next year
bridesmaid dresses are bought
save the dates have just been sent
I have started making my brooch bouquet (have got as far as wiring up some of the brooches)
Favour boxes/ribbons for decorating etc have been bought
centerpieces - have bought things ready to make them
name cards /table decs/card post box/table numbers etc all purchased
table plan bits purchased ready for making
And the latest things are we have booked a supplier for mood lighting and a led lit dancefloor. The dancefloor I have booked as a surprise for my fiancé.
I think that's it. not much more I can do until next year
It's all so exciting, but i'm finding my thoughts are always consumed with the wedding! I make sure I'm not talking about it though because I don't want to annoy people!
Well it sounds like we've all been pretty busy lately!
Sparkly Bear - I'm trying to think the same way as you, I know on the day I'll be so happy my OH and I saved up but right now with all the deposits paid and not much else to book I'm feeling a little bit flat ☹️ I totally get why your bridesmaids want to wait to buy their dresses, my MOH has bought her's but my other bridesmaid is a bit scared to in case she has a weight related drama! What are your bridesmaids dresses like? Hope your vicar confirms your time for you soon so you can make your invitations ... these dark dreary nights are perfect for some arts and crafts! Just think in 24 days time we can say we're getting married this year!!
Stephied9384 - Hello! My wedding is on the 3rd October, but I know my family will be a nightmare to collect RSVP's from! I'm sending my invites out at the start of April, and will ask for people to reply by the end of July ... I figured 4 months is plenty I'll then have all of August and September to chase up the late replies, and bump up any evening guests if we want to Hope this helps ?
MrsFRtobe - Hi, and welcome to Hitched! Congratulations on your engagement, I meet my OH online too Sounds like your being super organised at the moment, I have to ask ... what is your dress like?? Hope you enjoy a nice relaxing Christmas now you've got some of the main wedding bits done
Rebeccafcr - looks like your really organised too I love the sound of a led lit dance floor, hope your OH is suitably surprised on the day How are you finding making your own bouquet? I think the brooch bouquets are lovely but I could never make one myself! I know what you mean about not wanting to annoy people ... it can be difficult to think of anything but your wedding, but I have to keep reminding myself not everyone else is as excited as me lol
the brooch bouquet.... the wiring up bit isn't too difficult. I have to admit I am really worried when I come to putting it all together.....I don't want it to look rubbish.
I'm not naturally very creative, so I'm way out of my comfort zone!
I'm just not a very flowery person, so when I saw a brooch bouquet, it was something that was very different and I love sparkles, so it seemed like a good idea.... hopefully it will work out!
I'm sure it will look lovely, and if you get stuck I expect there's loads of people on here who can help answer your questions etc Who doesn't love sparkles
LittleMissPanda - I hope you dont mind, I have pointed a fellow hitched bride towards you as she has a query about Smooch - and I knew that you had gotten your rings from there! I believe she is going to send you an email!
Our vicar has confirmed our time this morning! Our ceremony is set for 12:30pm!! I am sooooo excited! I can finally start on the invitations, and confirm our guest list too now! We have had one drawn up for a while, but now I need to make invitations I need to get confirmed names and makiing sure we havent missed anyone! I then need to work out, when to send the day invitations and have them rsvp by, and then when to send the evening invitations and have them rsvp by!
So excited to be able to say that 'we are getting married this year!' - It will totally be a status on FB as soon as midnight strikes!
MrsFRtobe - yes tell us all about your dress! Do you have any pictures you can flash of it?!
Rebeccafcr - Welcome to the thread! You look really organised! As littlemisspanda has asked, how are you finding it making your bouquet? We are having all silk flowers as I want to keep them after the wedding, and are currently coparing the cost of a florist versus doing them ourselves - not sure I have the confidence to make them though!
Hope all other October brides have their plans coming along nicely!! Soon we'll all be able to do 6 month flashes!!!
Hiya, no probs to tell Kerrypug to message me ... I found her thread and responded, not sure if I helped or not!
Ooh am glad your vicar has confirmed your time for you now, I'm getting married at 12 ? Bet your excited to be making your invites now, and finalizing the guest list (hopefully your not like me and keep changing it every 5 minutes lol) When do you think you'll send out the day & evening invites? I was thinking start of April for the day invites with an RSVP of end of July, and then evening invites at the start of August...?
Haha I think I'll definitely have to nab that FB status
I'm having silk flowers to, but no way was I gonna make those myself! I recommend Heartfelt Flowers if your in the Wiltshire area, the lady is so lovely and the prices are reasonable too
So...who has some pictures they want to flash?? (can't wait for the 6 months pictures!)
I sat down and went over the guest list last night, and we have decided to send our day invitations at the beginning of March, with an rsvp of 31st May. Then sending our evening invitations at the beginning of June with an RSVP of 31st July. That then gives me two months before we get married to organise the table plan. We have to confirm final numbers to our venue 8 weeks before we get married so by the beginning of august I will of had all RSVP's back and I can confirm to the venue.
Are you having an Order of Service? I am going to make ours, but i have no idea where to begin! We are meeting with our Vicar in Feb to discuss the service to hopefully he will be able to provide me with an old one, so that I can adapt for ours!
Thank you for the flower recommendation; I live in Leicestershire so Wiltshire is a little far for me! My florist is providing me with a quote in the new yar; he has already quote on real flowers, but then I decided I wanted silk, so he will look into this in Jan for us!
I'll do a flash!! *pick me, pick me!!!* - I'm on my work laptop at the moment though so I have nothing here, however when I am back at home I am loads to flash!!
My Bridesmaid dresses are a one shoulder chiffon dress that comes down to the knee, in a sky blue colour. My MOH and Bridesmaid are both 5'1" so having a floor length gown would swamp them, and I prefer the knee length dresses! What are your BM dresses like?
I do feel super organised! but thats just the way I'm conditioned, lol. save the dates posted today!
my dress is a beautiful sincerity strapless dress, I'm wearing the illusion jacket too
http://www.sinceritybridal.com/wedding_dress/3771
its completely different to what i had in mind but it made me, my mum and my sister cry so it must be the one. i was actually on don't tell the bride the other night and it was soon hard to not say anything to my fiancé!!
I'm going to start making the invitations soon, all hand made. Im having a sage green/gold and cream theme
Sparkly Bear - I like your timeline for sending invites, sounds much more sensible than what I was going to do. In fact, I'll probably copy you! How are you getting on with your guest list... do you got a rough table plan in mind? We're only having approx 40 day guests so I'm hoping that a relatively small number won't cause a headache ?
I was thinking of having an Order Of The Day, rather than an Order Of Service. But this is purely because I'm having a registry office wedding, with a meal in a lovely pub, followed by the reception in a village hall. I thought it best to keep the guests informed of what's going on where & when so no-one gets confused/lost! If I was having a church wedding I would definitely have an Order Of Service.
Fingers crossed your florists quote for silk flowers is ok
Lol it's going to be flash central around here!
Your bridesmaids dresses sound gorgeous, can't wait to see a pic... This the dress my MOH and bridesmaid picked... http://www.bhs.co.uk/en/bhuk/product/wedding-1020484/bridesmaids-3911392/ruby-cornflower-short-dress-2536021?bi=1&ps=40 And these are the shoes that we bought yesterday, just hoping there as pretty in person as they are online http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_051010260479_-1#infotabs
MrsFRtobe - your dress is stunning, absolutely beautiful! Definitely the one if it made you, your mum and sister cry ? Your colour scheme sounds lovely, I'm jealous that your making your own invites ... I can't for fear of gluing myself to them haha
AnnaMolly - Your flower inspiration is really pretty, and as for your invites if you want to flash ideas I'm sure we're all happy to help you pick ... or write down all your great ideas and see if one 'jumps' out at you?
xx
PS - who else can tell its a quiet day at work for me today?!
LittleMissPanda - I am always on here whilst at work! I know i shouldn't be as I have so much work to do, but i get to easily distracted by wedding planning! What do you do for your day job if you dont mind me asking?
You are more than welcome to send your invites at the same time! Glad I could help! Then we can monitor together how many we each get back!
We are having 65 day guests. I did a rough table plan way back at the beginning of the planning and i put it in one of those 'safe places' - Just need to locate that safe place now!
Your order of day sounds like a good idea! We are thinking of having one of those two and including it on our invitationsm just something simple like this
So that the day and night guests know what is happening at what times. I;m going to make sure i include first dance, cutting of the cake, photographs etc. I just think people wont be wandering round trying to guess what time things will be happening!
You're MOH and bridesmaid dresses are gorgeous! I love the colour and the little flower on them!!! The shoes also look very gorgeous!
I am struggling to decide on a shoe colour for my BM's. My dress is white and theres is a sky blue, so I am worried that cream will shoes and pasmina for them will look a little silly next to my white dress, but then equally Im not sure that white till look good for them either!
AnnaMolly - I love your flower colour! It is almost like a Coral colour! Are you on pinterest? I follow quite a few wedding boards and they have some great colour themes on there. It really gives you a great idea of what colours work well together and would the wedding would look like in those colorus!
MrsFRtobe - I am also making my own invitations - mine are quite intricate with me having to make bows and other various things! I have found a glue gun is best for sticking the materials to the card. I tried various types of different glues when trying the mock invitations to see what would last the best and what didnt seep through the material etc and the glue gun has definitely been the best. It takes a while to get used to the glue gun, as if you dont pull the glue gun off the material quick enough you can get it looking a little stringy! But after practice I managed to make it work perfectly! Lots of my wedding magazines now have pages glued together whilst I was trying to master the art of using it!
SparklyBear- I know, i have made many prototype ideas and actually using a design made by my 8 year old niece! lol. lovely cream card with sage green lace down the side, very simple but effective, I'm using glue tabs, i tried the glue gun but it seeped thru the lace. seems to work ok. I bought a personalised stamp on the internet englishstampingcompany
https://www.englishstamp.com/csd/savethedate.aspx
I used their idea of stamping onto luggage labels and just replaced the string with sage green ribbon.
Im getting married in a gorgeous manor house in the Dales so theres no glitz or glam to my wedding, its all country and tweed
http://www.redlion.co.uk/weddings.cfm
these are my bridesmaid dresses- http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_58607+2213161555_-1 and my 2 little one are wearing these - http://uk.monsoon.co.uk/view/product/uk_catalog/mon_4.8/6580632632
littlemisspanda- thankyou, I'm overwhelmed with the dress, I can't wait to see it again when it arrives in April! Im a size 18 and never for one moment would dream of a dress like this on suiting me. i was gobsmacked! and I love the idea of having essentially 2 dresses, as I'm planning on taking the illusion jacket off for the evening reception so i have a strapless gown for night
Hi All, I'm an October 2015 bride as well - the 27th. We've booked the venue and registrar and started making our invitations last night ready to be sent out at some point next year. Next plan is to phone up a wedding shop to go and try on dresses but I hate shopping and I'm worried that I'll feel really out of place surrounded by so many similar dresses! eek!
you sound well organised. I felt exactly the same about my dress. Im a size 18-20 and was dreading it, had visions of nothing fitting and feeling horrid. I would advise doing some groundwork 1st, ring round and email local shops and see what range of dresses they had. I had my heart set on a lovely shop but after enquiring if they had plenty of samples to try, there response was..we only stock 10 and 12's but come in and choose your gown..ummm, no, probably not, I also had a couple of responses basically telling me they didn't have much for me to try on. I ended up finding a absolutely lovely shop and hr away that made me feel like a million dollars. I was expecting the worst experience but actually it will stay with me forever as a amazing day. Im desperate to show my fiance pics tho! its going to be so difficult.
I've got my first appointment to try on dresses tomorrow and I'm feeling a bit like you. I almost feel like a fraud, even though I have every right to be wedding dress shopping. I haven't quite got my head around the fact that I'm actually getting married I don't think. Never thought we would!
Good going getting started in the invitations. I've decided to leave it all until the stress of Christmas has passed. Then I'll have to get my rear in gear
Thanks MrsFRToBe it's reassuring to hear that bridal shops aren't all nightmares. I really need to start contacting some shops incase it takes a while to choose one, it'll be only 10 months to go after Christmas!
I went to a lovely shop and it was really eye opening! I had in my head what I thought I would like (slinky, mermaid style) and it just didn't suit me. I tried on a princess dress for a bit if a laugh and loved it! Haven't found the one yet but I know more about what suits me so that's good.
Going back in January when they get the new 2015 Maggie Sottero dresses in, some of which are simply stunning. I'm really excited!
Glad I started the dress hunting process before Christmas I have to say. I think its going to take me ages to find a dress. There was a bride in the shop at the same time as me getting married in February(!) so it's not that desperate yet!
I quite like this dress that I've spotted on a shop's website, but of course it depends if I can try it on and it suits me. I kinda hope it does because otherwise I'll probably have to try on a gazilion dresses - I'm quite fussy with clothes.
Happy Monday ladies Hope you all had lovely weekends!
How's everyone feeling today? Any exciting news, wedding or non wedding related...
AnnaMolly - glad to hear you got on ok with your dress shopping I hope the shop assistants were nice to you, after all you have every right to be dress shopping even if it doesn't feel real just yet It's always good to know roughly what suits you, it saves you trying on hundreds of dresses that you end up laughing at That dress is totally stunning! Hopefully you'll find something in January... I'm totally with you about letting the stress of Christmas pass, I've put all wedding stuff on hold now until January as I need a rest!
MrsFRtobe - your invites sound lovely, sounds like they match your venue & theme perfectly And your bridesmaids dresses are gorgeous! I know what you mean about your wedding dress suiting you, I'm a size 16 and honestly thought my only option was an a-line dress ... never in my wildest dreams did I imagine wearing a rather fitted gown Love the idea of having two dresses as well
HappyOrangeConfetti - hello and welcome How are your plans coming along? I second MrsFRtobe's advice about phoning wedding shops in advance, I didn't do this and I think it would've made all the difference I did not have a good experience in the first 2 shops I tried, and I took a break from looking for a few months I went into another shop when they had a sale on (to look for shoes) and the staff couldn't have been more helpful, there were plenty of dresses in my size as well I wish I'd called around and just gone there first! Ooh that's a pretty dress
Sparkly Bear - glad I'm not the only one who spends time at work on here! Its so easy to get distracted, especially since I'm a Senior Adminstrator in Customer Service ... that's fancy way of saying I work in a call centre lol. (I spent most of Friday buying gifts for my bridesmaids ... oops) What do you do
I spoke to my OH and we're definitely going to pinch your invite timeline, I'll keep you posted on how many we get back and when. Have you found your rough table plan yet? I imagine it'll be a right faff to start all over again. I did mine on Hitched, found it quite easy to use
I love your idea of including an order of the day in with the invites, the one you put in your post is really nice. I agree that the guests probably won't appreciate not knowing what's going on! We're going to have a board of some description in the entranceway to our evening venue, so the evening guests know what's happening when (the day guests will have their Orders Of The Day)
Thank you for complimenting my MOH & bridesmaid dresses We picked them together, as I had to the worst kind of friend and ask them to buy their own dresses I love their shoes so much I'm toying with the idea of buying them for myself as well!
I had the shoe colour dilemma as well, I didn't want them to have white shoes as my dress is ivory but we couldn't find any shoes we liked that went with my dress We were thinking of nude shoes when we found these ones, and they go really well with their dress and mine Have you had a browse on Debenhams website? They've got a great selection of occasion/evening shoes that might help you

Hi LittleMissPanda that is very helpful, thank you. I think we will stick with April/May time then, will give us enough time to collect RSVPs and filter out the definites etc! I think I was being very ambitious thinking I could leave it so late as August ha ha!
Rebeccafcr - let me know how you get on with your bouquet. I am hoping to have a stab at my own, although I have zero patience and am not very creative so should be fun!
Oh ladies, we booked the honeymoon at the weekend!! I am SO excited. We were in the travel agent's for about 3 hours ?, we just couldn't narrow our choices down, we wanted to go everywhere! The lady was absolutely amazing though, so patient and eventually we have decided on a tour of Sr Lanka, sort of a trek through elephant orphanages, tea plantations and markets and things, then a week in Goa. I really cannot wait, we have never even flown long haul anywhere before, we fly out two days after the wedding as well, so no smelly work in between x
Stephied9384 - glad I could help I figured it must be better to have too much time than not enough! Good luck with your bouquet, am sure you'll be fine
Your honeymoon sounds wonderful, so jealous!! That's excellent that you won't have any smelly work in between your wedding and your fabulous honeymoon, you can have 2 days to recover before you fly out
How are your plans coming along?

Aw thank you LittleMissPanda! I think we're on top of most things, we've got venue, caterers, TOG, cars, band/DJ, I've got my dress, veil and tiara, just need to sort rings, cake (which mum is getting), invites (friend is doing) and decorations. Oh and OH clothes ha ha! That will probably get done at the 11th hour if I leave it to him!
I wasn't going to go dress shopping until April but I've been dying to have a look.
The reason I was leaving it so late is that I'm quite a larger girl, so want to loose weight first. I've lost 2 stone already, but after a bad cough for 2 months which stopped me going to the gym, my weight loss stalled and even with the best reason in the world to focus on losing weight, I still lost my focus. So my thinking was, if I go, and see how horrible I look now, it will kick me up the bum to get my focus back.
So I went.... I had no choice of dresses. it was only a case of what she had in big size samples. None of which I liked or were anything like what I've been looking at online.
I didn't look as hideous as I expected to, and wedding dresses really are amazing at pulling you in and hiding a multitude of sins.... but I still did see how I REALLY REALLY don't want to look on my wedding day....
I felt like I looked silly... didn't feel remotely like a bride. I'm hoping that's just because they weren't "the" dress.
The lady was nice and is ordering me in samples of the dresses I've seen, so I'm going back at the end of January to try them on and we'll see then.
I have a long way to go and a lot to change..... I am a bit worried...but... we'll see.

Ahh sweetie I'm sorry you had a pants time dress shopping if you are planning on losing weight, Christmas is definitely not the time to be thinking about it. You've got so much time left yet I wouldn't worry about it until January, when you can have a proper crack at it. And you never know, some of the samples that the shop ordered may be just what you were looking for x
Rebeccafcr - I'm sorry to hear you had a rubbish time dress shopping. Unfortunately I found that there aren't always a lot of samples available for us 'bigger' girls, the first shop I went to had me in tears for all the wrong reasons! Try and focus on the positives though ... 2 stone is an amazing amount of weight to lose, and once we get pesky Christmas out of the way I'm sure you'll get your groove back. At least you have some idea now of what dresses you definitely don't want as well, meaning hopefully your closer to finding the one you do want. It's nice to hear that the lady in the shop was nice to you, and is ordering you some samples to try ... you'll have something nice to look forward to after the all Christmas excitement has passed. *big hugs*
Stephied9384 - wow your flying along! We ordered our wedding rings in April so that's all done & I've booked the registry office, venue for our meal and our evening venue Our DJ, wedding breakfast, evening caterers, photographer and flowers are all booked I've bought my dress and the bridesmaids have their outfits, although we need jewellery and I'm taking my OH and his best man suit shopping in January I have a meeting booked in Jan with our friend who does cakes and I have a friend making invities
Hi Ladies! I'm really enjoying reading how much you have all done and how things are coming along, especially all the discussion about invites etc because to be honest I hadn't even thought about that yet. So thank you for giving me some ideas!
So far I've booked Registrar, Reception venue, dress, bridesmaids dresses, photographer, chair covers and flowers! I'm fully into my Uni studies now, my first assignment has been submitted and my first exam is early January so I'm giving the wedding planning a break for now! But I love reading everything you guys have done so far xxx
