Relative Newbie! Any Devon brides out there?

Hi have just heard back from WP and they definitely don't do any form of decorating for us, we have to outsource everything. They apparently have centrepieces (vases, mirrors etc) that they hire out but she said because every bride is different they can't really do any decorating. So looks like we will both be doing something the day before our wedding - at least we will be kept busy lol! Haven't managed to see the room dresser company yet but will let you know when I do!

That's good to know about WP - I've booked my time off already as I suspected I would need to do some of this stuff.

We're having a bit of a break from planning to be honest. I don't feel that there's loads that I can do at the moment anyway, as we're so far away. Our vicar is going to be in contact from November onwards (need to know next year's costs!), I'm booking the tog at the end of the month, and I'm off to Stitches in September to get some stuff for wedding stationary. BM dresses can wait a while - though I think I am going to try and make them myself.

Thats a good idea about booking time off, think I will get a couple of days, make sure I am ready. Am all planned out myself at the moment - like you say there isn't much else you can do at the mo. Am going to lurk around hitched and see what everyone else is up to ?

Am very impressed with your sewing skills - that will be a nice project to get your teeth into. I have no creativeness myself therefore will be buying!

Holne Park was amazing and would have been my first choice if it had been within budget. Have you had a look around? If you get an appointment with Gemma she is lovely, and really willing to help!

I booked our venue last weekend!!!! And booked our Registrar on Monday as been told they get booked up quite quickly! have you booked anything yet?

I'm in Plymouth. We're just looking at venues.. It's so hard picking one!

Cool, im in Exeter so not far! I know we only looked at 4 venues before we found the one we really loved and didn't want to look at anymore!!

I want to start planning other stuff now but i think it is probably too soon

The Lord Haldon Country House Hotel.... it's in the middle of no where and only 4 miles from the centre of Exeter which is great!! So excited :-)

I can't wait to start dress shopping! I'm finding venue hunting stressful.

Ooh lovely! That venue didn't come up on my list for some reason - how did I over look it! I had a lovely time looking at venues, but it was really hard to choose in the end. Happy with my choice though ?

Pinkerbell you will love wedding dress shopping! Its amazing and so indulgent lol. Just make sure you enjoy it!

Becky - getting married next June (21st). Originally I wanted to get married at Haldon Belvedere and looked at the Lord Haldon for reception, but in the end we dedided to have the whole thing at the Lord Haldon. Went to see it again this week and it looked lovely in the sunshine.

Are you having the ceremony there too?

Haldon Belverdere is really nice, we would have considered there but knew it would be too small/expensive straightaway!

Yea we are having the whole thing there as well it's so nice that it is only 4 miles or so from the centre of Exeter but yet you are literally in the middle of no where!!! We've seen it in the rain & it still looks like haha!!

Whereabouts do you live?

I live in Honiton so its pretty close. Lots of our friends live in Exeter andn my family live in Plymouth, but we are hoping that quite a few will stay the night. It's nice to have a venue twin!

We booked the photographer today! Yay! So that's all the big things sorted now. We're now going to start mucking around with the guest list I think.

We have a 99% agreed guest list and I had a go at a very rough table plan (with the assumption that all people invited will come and just for a bit of fun!) - man it was one of the hardest things i have ever had to do! But there are always no's aren't there so I can just keep playing for now - keeps me occupied and stops me spending before payday ?

Think we are going to go with the one WP recommended, they are the most reasonable so far and are used to the venue. Mind you OH hasn't completely said yes yet, more like 'if I say yes will you shut up about things?' so I am a little reluctant!

Still really want a band but the budget just won't stretch, had such big ideas lol

I'm having second thoughts about a band now. Well, specifically my Dad's band. I don't know whether it would be too much for him. I don't know.
