weight loss

kezzybabe, 19 September, 2008 at 13:42 Posted on Planning 0 49

Hi all

Has anyone actually lost any weight for there big day and if so how areyou doing it?

Im curious as im trying to lose my jelly belly for my wedding in may 2009 and have radically changed my diet which im sure will help but i dont have a lot of time to go to the gym but i walk loads and am going to be starting up my wii fit again soon.

Im a terribly fussy eater and eat all the wrong things major chocaholic although am limiting myself to 1 bar a day.So WW or slimming world not really that great an option for me.My weakness is big greay fry ups MMMM!!!!!?

Aslo have a slendertone belt, does anyone have any experience of them working for them?

I had a slendertone once - used it religiously - it did nothing.

probably becuase toned muscles aren't evident if they're covered in a layer of fat - so a total waste of time

i have lost 2 stone - just by running for running 40 mins 3/4/5 times a week

if its your bellly you need to deal with - then just cut out sugar and choose brown rather than white carbs

    ;-)

you are very welcome. i have to admit ive never followed it myself, but i have had to loose weight. i lost 19lbs this time last year. I just stopped eating crap basicly! lol! i ate smaller portions, cut out some rubbish and ate fewer bad carbs. It took me quite a while though, but i got there in the end. think i could do with having a bit of a diet again really, but will prob wait till the new year, when the goal of the wedding is a bit closer.

I have also done the gi diet before which was amazing but it is hard to stick to (imo) so i didnt do it the second time round.

My jelly belly is starting to shift for the first time in years and the only way I've managed to do this is cut out all white carbs, bread, potatoes pasta and high sugar foods (most low fat foods have a high sugar content) and started exercising (I've been to the gym 5 times this week). Although my weight loss hasn't been significant I've managed to drop two dress sizes (I'm now a size 10 for the first time in 15 years) and my stomach is almost flat! I feel great.

I am trying to lose weight again myself. I have done so in the past and I switched to a vegan diet and just walked places and I went from 22 stones down to just over 11 stone. I also dropped 7 dress sizes. It took me just under a year to do that so would recommend this to people, it does genuinley work

Come on over to the Weight Loss forum - you'll get lots of support and ideas.

I lost 3 1/2 stone in the year leading up to my wedding, I used the WW points system as a general guide and weighed in once a week posting on the weight loss monthly 'challenge thread'.

If you like your chocolate, WW is actually a good diet as it doesn't ban any foods, and you just build it into your points. Having said that, if you feel you physically need chocolate, that sounds slightly worrying, maybe it would be an idea to actually wean yourself off like you would any other drug ..... just an idea??

At the end of the weight loss comes down to a simple calories in v calories out equation, and everyone finds something that works for them.

I didn't do anything specific for my tummy. I had to lose it everywhere! I went to the gym as well as doing the food optimising; mixture of cardio, weights and abs, twice a week.

Yup, just Slimming World and the gym, but I was going to the gym for four months before we got engaged and I started food optimising for the wedding and didn't lose any weight, so I think I can safely say the weight loss is down to the food (although I'm sure the gym sessions helped me to tone up and look slimmer quicker, IYSWIM).

Wow Mel you have done so well. I knew you had lost weight but actually seeing those pics is amazing. Makes me think there is still hope for me to get back to my slim figure.

Kezzybabe - I'm the same as you and extremely fussy so just don't think I could do SW or WW as I don't like many choices of food. I live on bread, pancakes, chicken, rice and potatoes so a diet that cuts them out would be impossible for me unfortunately. The only way I can lose weight is to run and just not eat as much.

Another Sw'er here. It really is flexable, you can eat as much rice and potatoes as you want ! (I do).

My bridal shop were shocked I had lost so much weight before my wedding, so many brides say they will and then dont.......

I'm the fussiest eater I've ever met. I'm a nightmare. Seriously, there's no way you're more fussy than me. On SW you can have bread (healthy extra on both), chicken (free on a red, healthy extra on a green), rice (free on a green, healthy extra on a red) and potatoes (free on a green, healthy extra on a red). You can use your syns to have pancakes. Don't want to sound harsh, but saying you can't diet because you're fussy is a bit of a cop-out. Try SW.

Mel I don't like any veg or salad so would that restrict me at all? I just don't understand all these green and red days even though you tried to explain it before as well as others (I'm slow on the update I think ?).

When I have looked at the diets before I just see all these meal ideas and I can't eat them so it puts me off.

Exactly this is my problem.Cant stand salad, rice only eat carrots and peas if they tinned???(i dont know why!!!)no potatoes in any form when i go for a meal at a friends house its easier to write down what i will eat than what i wont. And the meal ideas do put me off.Im that bad i hate mince but love spag bol and over the years have devised a way not to let any mince get into my outh. Its quite amusing to watch apprently.

I can see why people think it its a cop out and not the first timeits been said to me I hate my issues with food and wish i was normal at times as h2b has a hard time finding me a decent restaraunt for a meal. But its so ground in as it started when i was so young according to my mum.

But good news i weighed myself yesterday and ive lost a pound!!!!!this is in a week of healthy eating, swapping chocs for fruit, fry up for toast or cereal and actually having a small evening meal instead of a sandwich then picking when i get peckish. Also drinking less fizzy drinks i used to have about 5 cans a day now i only have one and never actually finish it.This and what everyone else has said has motivated me me and if i only lose a pound a week for the next 6 months il be happy.
