What are your (and friends/family's) dogs names?

Inspired by the car thread ? We're (hopefully) getting a puppy in the summer so I hoped you'd be kind enough to tell me the names of dogs you know please? If your name is picked, the lucky winner will get..... er.... a nice warm fuzzy feeling? ?

Our black lab is called Penny (as in Penny Black Stamp - OH is into stamps). Now I thought this was quite clever of me, but I have since found out there are quite a few black labs called Penny out there. Incidentally its Penny's birthday today (and mine!).

I am desperate for another dog and have been offered a St Bernard called Lucy. (I just need to convince OH that its a good idea!). My friends scottie is also called Lucy.

I know a Chester (cross alsatation). I have always wanted a Newfoundland called Harriet (don't ask me why). I also like the name Millie and Gemma for dogs (sorry if there are any Millie's or Gemma's out there!!!)

Oh and I know a choc lab called Mabel!

Well, I have Kevin and Riley. Current dogs in my classes are Joely, Diva, Barney, Indie, Honey, Leila, Patch, two Poppys, Henry, Josie, Tango, Dylan, Flash, Alibi, Scaddy, Daisy, Harry, Kai, Cinders, Minnie

Other dogs I know or have known: Lucy, Sam, Mac, Finn, Dogger, Bertie, Rio, Fluke, Dave, Wiggle, Beenz.

I like human names for dogs, and I like names with two syllables - easier to call across the park. Having said that I've always wanted a dog called Bob but always been overruled.

Lilly, Phoebe, Blue, Zulu, Maddie, Dicken.

I'm not keen on calling dogs Malcolm, Colin etc- it seems a bit studenty, like having a yucca plant called Dave, IYSWIM. I also think it's a bit mean on the dog to make its name a sort of joke (obv this is hugely anthropomorphic- the dog doesn't care ?)

My first ever dog was called Biddy. She was a King Charles Spaniel.

Then we had 2 Japanese Akitas called REME (she was from a dogs home and her previous owner was in the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers) and Bruce who again was from a home. They had pups and we kept 2. 1 was called Knu-ki-tae (or Sensai Running Bear was his 'show' name) and Kee-Mae.

Sadly they died and my dad was heartbroken so mum bought him another Akita who my brother named Kane. He's still with us, and is a giant!

Some really lame names from me - Holly, Rosie, Amber, Sally, Millie. Turbo and Digger are quite good names though. My OHs parents had a dog called Julie. Just why would you call a dog Julie? Although I do quite like Keith for a dog's name ?

    Sherry (his great-aunt's dog)

    Max/Maxi (our friend's Shih-Tzu - great name for a small dog)

    Mac

Severn (he came from Wales so they had to bring him across the Severn Bridge)

Our Cocker is called Woody - named after my father whose middle name is Braidwood.

Other names my H wanted included Spike (short for Nathaniel the character in Blackadder II who sat on a spike in a vow of silence!) or Roger (as in Roger the... yeah, I know) and we also thought about calling him Ronnie (with a kennel name of Norman Stanley Fletcher so he'd be the Ronnie Barker memorial dog!) but thankfully Woody won the day. ?

We have Hugo and Hudson (full names Hugo Bonce and Hudson Hawk)

    Our family dog was Dylan

Friends dogs, we have Coco Chanel (possibly the scruffiest Mutt ever so it really suits her), Woody, Mouse, Albi (Alberto), Jack, Putney, Cassie, Susie (my name so not sure about that!) Bear, Bert and Leo.

I'd love a dog called Montigue or Mortimer but MrP has a ban on any more dogs!

I have Rico (Akita- also answers to Bob), Jessie (aka Jesster or Juice) the mastiff cross and Ellie (phant, Staffie.) All 3 were rescues so we didn't choose their names (except for Bob. Oh, and Ellie was originally Cruella, but it didn't suit her one jot and she's deaf so cares not what we call her!)

Others: Deefer, Sadie, Willow, Jackson, Sam, Daisy, Elizabeth, Sally and Chloe.

My family bred labradors (pedigree gundogs) all through my childhood so grew up with all kinds of names. We actually had 8 of our own dogs, the last of which died 2 weeks ago☹️

    They were

    Tay (Tamar)

    Dee

    Menna

    Currha

    Mistie

    Abbie

Dever (not as in Deefa Dog, but Dever Springs)

    Falcon

However, my parents just got a new lab puppy, not bred by us obviously called Gunner. Another one on the way called either Purdy or Portia.
