So what things would you hate at your wedding?
Exactly! Im having Doves at the church - so shoot me! LOL ?
Very useful advice !
This post has been very helpful indeed!
Multicoloured shoes on brides
brides that change outfits in the evening
I know that feeling, we'd been together 6 1/2 years before getting engaged and our friends got engaged 2 years ago (after about 6 months together) no sign of them doing any planning and they have the cheek to question why im organising my wedding already/before them! haha
No wine/drink provided during the meal. Would understand if the couple are on a budget, but not if they have invited 60+ people.
Being invited as an evening guest with no drink/food provided.
Photographers who spend hours on the group photos.
Princess/crown like tiaras.
My brother's girlfriend was desperate for him to propose for ages and kept telling us all at family dinners how 'useless' he was. Eventually he proposed and after a few months she announced that marriage was 'pointless' and they would just stay engaged forever. I found that really irritating.
Also I just remembered my biggest hate at weddings: discos. I don't think they fit in with the formalness of most weddings and flashing coloured lights aren't romantic. sorry.
On a slightly professional note:
Guys who can't be arsed to 1. do up their top button on their shirt. 2. pull up their trousers 3. tie a decent knot in their tie. 4. polish their shoes.
I know lots of guys don't care too much about fashion but it is your wedding day, make an effort.
Agree on drink provided through the meal. I went to a wedding where they had the works, stretch hummer, casino, magician etc but provided no wine or welcome drinks.
Good thread!!
Most importantly i hate weddings that the bride is so far up her own organised ass that you can't relax and enjoy the day....also
No sit down meal
Rubbish booze
Very very expensive drinks......went to one wedding that was unbelievably expensive
Gift lists/money poems
Don't mind discreet fake flower (fishbowls etc) but bouquets and displays have to be real
Hate it if i don't get a favour..even just a sugar almond
Hate it is no one dances
Don't like huge dresses
Not a fan off most coloured dresses
Don't like huge tiaras
Very important...hate waiting around for hours for food..you should be getting something, even if it is small around two hours after the ceremony, otherwise folk get too drunk.
Photobooths (sorry)
yeh grooms who look like they have made no effect
Hog Roasts
I went to a wedding where there was no seating plan and not enough seats for everyone invited. The so called Hog-Roast was no different to a Doner-Van in my opnion, so everyone was walking around with their doner-roll in one hand and a drink in the other. It looked like kicking out time on Romford high street.
Expensive drinks at the venue - if you're not providing the booze, you ought to take your guests costs in to consideration.
Cash only bars with no warning (I rarely carry cash)
Fussy eaters.
Ppl that get married 'just because they are pregnant' and they feel its the 'right thing to do'
I don't really like themed weddings for some reason but think it's more than I wouldn't have it one myself and might not think much about it if I was a guest, seeing bridesmaids as identical clones of each other, animals dressed up lol, hate posh food no one wants and they nip to the chippy later on, hate stressed out couples who control every aspect of the day and don't enjoy it themselves.
Ok, try not to hate me too much!
artificial flowers
butterflies
anything pink
cupcakes instead of a proper cake
other people proposing
arguing couples
fake tan, nails, eyelashes
tarty clothes
candy buffets
photo booths
karaoke
kids (other than page boys/flower girls)
balloon arches
buck's fizz!!!
I'm sure there's more to follow...
Ring cushions- isnt the job of the best man to look after the rings and give them when needed
Ooooh Wedding Room 101!!!
I'm sure I am probably repeating myself from a lot of other posts, but for what its worth...
My pet hates are...
Goldfish Centrepieces
Pigeon Lobbing
Comedy First Dances (I have no objection to a well choreographed classic dance routine like a waltz etc. but no more MC Hammer....purlease!)
Fireworks
Long Speeches with lots of "in" jokes... yawn!
Stretched vehicles in general
Cinderella carriages
Bride speeches (in addition to the Groom, BM and FOB...)
Balloons (with the exception of the oversized white round ones... they are cool)
I am sure there are more...
Oooh good thread! My dislikes would be...
Chair covers
Balloons
Limos
Chinese lanterns
Female guests wearing white or looking rather underdressed.
Receiving lines - Really don't want to be queueing to get into the reception!
Centrepieces or features using live animals - Butterflies/ goldfish/ doves all out for me I'm afraid.
Massive tiaras.
Videographer harrassing guests to record personal messages for the bride and groom. Have found that very awkward before.
Ooh recieving lines- i hate them!
oh and brides and groom who take first dance lessons- dont get that one- just enjoy it lol
thumbs up trickers
I also hate ring cushions, but my mom very kindly located one on her annual leave and paid "a lot of money" for it apparently... [:'(]
My final one: Men in DIRTY white shirts or off white as they have been washed with a Navy jumper - NO NEED, buy a new one!
Elvis Impersonators!
Brides in dresses that are clearly still a size too small.
The shrug things that brides wear (cant think of the name)
Sammy/Trickers - I fall foul of the dress code rule i'm afraid.
My need to avoid Pink and Red together overides the (what i consider to be) rudeness of inflicting a dress code.
