The Little Jewellery Box

Pls flash your engagement rings....

The Little Jewellery Box, 13 April, 2012 at 11:26 Posted on Planning 0 87

Hi all,

I'm an old married but I'm so upset because I recently lost my engagement ring. I'm so gutted! I absolutely loved it and it was obviously very sentimental. We chose it together in Barbados where my H proposed.

It is insured and so we will be looking to get a new one. I'd obviously much prefer to find my original ring but we will be looking at new rings if the insurance company pay out and my ring doesnt turn up, so I'm looking for inspiration. I like white gold or similar and diamond. Pls flash yours to give me some ideas.

Thanks from a very sad old married ? x

Hope these flashes work. 1ct solitaire with extra diamonds on the shoulders, in platinum (but I'm sure you could get similar in white gold)

? Like the Diana/Kate replica idea! Funny and v sweet!

Absolutely gorgeous ring by the way and your hands look fine. I'm almost 31 and mine are so much more wrinkley! I put it down to all the washing up and washing of hands since my little baby girl arrived. I've never used so much hand wash and cream!

The first ring on the thread is stunning too. I love the diamonds on the shoulders of the ring. Beautiful.

I hope my ring turns up but we're losing hope now. :-(

Thanks for the kind comments. I love it too - we chose it together after he proposed with a temporary one.

I agree - try to get one made that is the same as the one you lost. My ring is from the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham, meaning it's very good value (insured for 60% more than OH paid) and they should be able to make whatever you want.

PS - I also have very wrinkly old lady hands and I'm only 38!

My profile pic is my ring.

it's 1920's Art Deco, 1.3 carat diamond set in platinum with 4 baguette diamonds.

I'm really sorry you lost your ring as I would be heartbroken if it was mine but if you are looking at getting a new one and fancy an antique one I can't recommend highly enough a little shop in Battle called Friar House. They have an amazing selection of antique rings at reasonable prices and they were lovely to deal with.

    Their website is https://friarhouse.com/

After having the wedding booked for over a year I only got my ring at the weekend so I'm happy to flash!

It's his late grandmas antique Sapphire and Diamond ring - a little Kate Middleton'ish but gran set this style way before Kate or even Diana was on the scene!

    Excuse fat fingers please!

Hope that you find a ring that you love!

I can't say I would describe those prices as reasonable (Mine is art deco and was £145) but they sure are beautiful! Smiley smile

Thank you all, this was a pic of mine. It was white gold with 1ct emerald cut diamonds. I think it would be nice to have the same again or something similar but I do like little diamonds on the shoulders and I like the vintage look too. Hopefully it will turn up though! I'm so sad.

Trust me in comparison to some of the ones I tried on in the Burlington Arcade (£16,950) the prices were very reasonable!

I'm a virgin flasher too, as you can probably tell from how huge the picture is. :-)

Good luck with finding your ring.

Oooh I've never flashed mine before!

Mine is a vintage white gold and 1.25 carat diamonds (all 5 diamonds are the same size) and soooooo sparkly (why do photos never reflect this?!)

I absolutely love it - my fingers are quite big (N 1/2) and having the 5 diamonds to fill the width is flattering (I thought I wanted a solitaire until I tried some on, and they did my hands no favours!) I also have a job (teaching) and hobby (horses) that means any diamonds that stood too proud could have been a hazard and would have been more likely to get damaged.

My OH proposed and then we chose the ring together, and when I spotted this in a vintage jewellery shop and is happened to be my size, it was meant to be!

It amazes me that they can get away with those prices. Just because something costs more doesn't mean it's worth more. Idiot mentality.

That's such a shame, I hope it turns up or you can get a similar one with the insurance money. OH chose mine, it is a weird shaped band so we had to have the WR specially made to fit round it:

Mine is a green tsavorite garnet (emerald cut) in palladium. My OH designed if for me as my birthday is January but I love the green garnets (which are quite rare/unusual) - I don't like sparkly stones that sit up in claw settings!

This is the only decent picture I have of my ring! Excuse the socks, I happened to put them on the day after we got engaged and we (drunkenly) thought it was hilarious, hence the picture!

It's platinum with a 0.33 carat diamond and a 0.25 carat sapphire on either side. I love the colour of the sapphires as they're not as dark as most. OH got a few different stones sent into our local jeweller and picked them out himself.

The shop is amazing! It's absolutely tiny but they have an amazing selection of rings and would recommend them to anyone as they were so lovely.

I love my ring and get lots of compliments as it's so sparkly!
