We had the house canopies, cheapest food (must be the house menu) leek and potatoe soup, chicken in mushroom sauce and profiteroles then we had the drinks package unlimited wine and Buck's Fizz. That crate my lovely sister got me on the morning of the wedding and the quick thinking florist shoved them in there lol. From a place called plant a box - wrong date but who cares lol x
The flip flops were the thing the girls went crazy for. I also put a box of bits in the toilets..... Parecetomol, hair spray, tampons, Rennes, panty liners, emery board, moisturiser, chewing gums, polo's that went down amazingly!!
We had the singing waiters lol they were amazing. I am so blessed to have had a lovely wedding. any questions i am happy to help. As soon as I get my video I'll post the link xxxx
Such a good idea to put all the bits in the loo, I'm sooooo nicking that idea if you don't mind!
Was all the food tasty? Did you have canapés with your arrival drink? They're so dear and we cant decide? Did you have a free bar or a paying bar in the evening? Did you leave before our guests or stay till the last song (personally I'm always the last to leave a party but the OH says we should go earlier. :-(
Did you just have wine on the tables or did you go for beer too? Was the bar open during the speeches? What did you do while they cleared away for the evening bit?
omg I just realised I just barraged you with questions, sorry, it all sounds so amazing that's I just got carried away x
I have only been to one wedding years ago that had canopies and I never forgot the canopies. I'm always hungry after the ceremony so for me I wanted that above all else. When we booked the wedding we had a strict budget as I didn't want to rely on money from parents etc......having said that we were lucky to be given money towards our day.
i didn't have pitchers of beer in the end, just the unlimited wine (think it's the middle package) once I knew the figure for our initial price I calculated the extra money for the wine in the day and it worked put more cost effective for the night bar as people drank a lot of the wine and didn't want as much at night.
We initially agreed 1000 to go behind the bar starting at quarter to 8, I overheard the maître de tell Greig that it had reached 1000 and also heard Greig say keep it going!! Pissed as a fart as he was I ran to the bar and told her to stop In 10 mins as people were ordering and I didn't want to look bad. So from quarter to 8 till 10 the bar bill was 1250.00
I stayed right till the end.....I grabbed hold of a beam and had to be dragged out.....only joking lol
cant remember the bar being open while we were eating and the speeches-didn't see anyone get up.
They cleared up pretty quick we went out and chucked the bouquet and had some photos just the 2 of us. The photographer kept calling it the golden hour lol xxxx
Have just had a relative email me who was at a wedding at crondon a couple of weeks ago so thought I would pre warn anyone who is thinking of booking the resident DJ
This is what she told me.
"We went to a friends wedding at Crondon Park a few weeks ago. Was absolutely gorgeous.
The resident DJ wasn't very good at The wedding - he kept playing the same songs! Not even just one song twice... Some of the songs 3 or 4 times!!!! the groom, even went up to him and said "don't play this again" and he just ignored Him and kept the same song on. Really rude. On a couple of occasions he wasn't at the dj stand and it would just go quiet when the song ended..... Hope you don't mind me sayng. Thought you would want to know. I know I would"
So if you have booked him you can tell him early what you want from him, and if you haven't then don't bother I reckon! We've already booked someone else after seeing the very op say she'd heard he was arrogant.
Really appreciate the post about the resident DJ, me and my H2B have booked him for our wedding on 17th August this year. He seemed really nice when we spoke to him, I explained to him how music is very important to us and we want to make sure he is on the ball with it and he did convince me.
Has anyone else gone with the resident DJ and been disappointed?
I am concenred as well about the resident DJ so if anyone has had him and has good feedback i'd really appreciate it.
If I don't change the DJ (which I might try to do) then of course i'll let you know. Would hate to have a really bad DJ as that is so important to me and my H2B.
I only have 97 days to go so really hope I don't have to change DJ.
i hope i did the right thing with my post, I know that I would want to know. If I had booked him already I would just make sure I told him in advance what I did and didn't want
like don't play the same song more than once, take requests from our guests, please don't leave a gap at the end of songs, please always be at your stand, we will get you a drink that kind of thing. You don't even have to say you heard he did all these things, just make it clear what you expect from him. You're paying him so he should take all this on board
Yes of course you did the right thing! It's much better to make sure people are aware just a bit stressed as when I spoke to him I explained how a DJ is very important to us and what we wanted exactly so just a bit disappointing to hear that he wasn't very accommodating.
I just thought i'd ask for anyone who has had any positive feedback in case it was just a one off. I'm going to get my H2B to phone him and have chat to reassure me and if i'm still worried then i'll see if I can change it.
We used "the singing waiters" they were 800.00 for 3 waiters. Started at 2:30pm as we came out of the ceremony mingled with guests through the photos, served the food, poured the w ine then at 6:15 did their set.
Hi brides, I have just had my wedding video back from my wedding at crondon on 19/04 I love it and it brings so many memories back! If anyone wants to see it I'm happy to post, you can see crondon in all its beauty xx
We've just booked Crondon as our venue, wedding isn't till 2016 but I am already stressing about finding a hotel for our guests!! Greenwoods is just too much money to ask people to spend! Does anyone know of anywhere that would be good? Would be nice for everyone to be able to stay in the same place!!! Thanks!
HappyRedCars I got married at Crondon in April and stayed at The Lion Inn in Chelmsford, it's about a 15 minute drive but it's beautiful, reasonably priced and the service was amazing. I would fully recommend it.
Myself and the hubby are staying at Pontlands Park and everyone else is staying somewhere within their own budgets. We are having a little drinks poos in our garden the following day in the afternoon so we can catch up with people then
